MEET YOUR GUIDE

Hey there! Thanks so much for stopping by and checking out my page. My name is Jim Savage. I'm a licensed drug and alcohol counselor and have been working in the addiction treatment field for over thirty years. My approach is simple: I believe that a carrot is more effective than a stick. In other words, my entire career has been dedicated to helping addiction treatment clients find a spark that gets them excited about recovery, as opposed making them feel bad enough that they are forced to follow a recovery plan. And I've come up with some pretty creative ways to light that spark.

I am a recovering addict as well, and have been sober since 1988. I am very open about my recovery, and am committed to practicing what I preach when it comes to coaching others in recovery.

In addition to my clinical background, I am also a professional musician and producer. (I was actually a founding member of a  popular Beatles cover band from Dallas, Texas—I was sort of the John Lennon in the group.)  As a recovering musician, I've always been dedicated to using music and the creative arts to carry a positive message about recovery. From rock musicals to musical meditation programs, I have a lot of creative material I use as teaching tools for addiction treatment.

After running my own adolescent treatment program for ten years, I realized how much help families need in learning how to address a substance use issue with a loved one and navigating the road to successful recovery. I wrote a book titled Rehab Works! A Parent's Guide To Drug Treatment, and went on to develop an entire educational program for families of treatment clients.

Today I wear several different hats: recovery coach, treatment consultant, writer, producer, recovering musician. It's a gift to be able to channel all the things I love doing into one central purpose: Helping others transform the pain and chaos of addiction into one of the best things that could ever happen for them. I'd love to be able to help you have that experience.

SOBRIETY DOESN'T HAVE TO SUCK!

A Guide To Finding Excitement, Renewal, And Spiritual Fulfillment In Recovery

"What am I supposed to do now?

"How am I supposed to feel good now? I had to give up everything that makes me feel good!"

"This sucks!"

Let's face it. The reason people use substances is to change how they feel. When one becomes addicted and is forced to give up what has become a major source of "feeling good," it's not uncommon to feel empty, angry, or just plain bored. It's easy to see why the idea of getting sober is not an attractive prospect for many people. And that might be putting it lightly.

This free eBook unpacks the whole idea of "feeling good" and identifies how to achieve what it is that we are really looking for through our substance use—without the substances.
