Treatment Success!

Addressing a substance use issue with a loved one is no easy task for any family—whether it's your son or daughter, or your husband or your wife, or even parent for that matter. Many families feel lost or overwhelmed when it comes to knowing how to provide effective treatment support. The RehabWorks Family Support Program allows families to get the most out of a treatment experience by bridging the gap between the client, the family, and the treatment team.

WHO: For parents, spouses, or other family members of substance abuse treatment clients

WHAT: An online learning platform for families of substance use treatment clients

WHERE: Families work on the course from the convenience of their own home, on their favorite mobile device

WHEN:

• Families can begin the course the moment their loved one begins treatment!

• Families work the course on their own time, at their own pace

WHY: Improve treatment outcomes through effective family support

Does Rehab Really Work?

"Failed treatment"

A family's worst nightmare is going through the pain and chaos of dealing with a problem, getting the loved one into treatment, only to have it all blow up before the ink is dry on the discharge papers. Families are devastated, thousands of dollars are wasted, and the public perception of rehab becomes tainted—as in, “rehab doesn't work.”

The good news is it doesn't have to be this way. RehabWorks shows families how to take control of a situation that has been out of control, and give their loved one the best chance possible for treatment success.

The family in treatment

Treatment clients learn a lot about addiction and recovery, but if they don't like what they're hearing, they may not want to follow treatment recommendations. And if those around the client haven't learned what the client is learning, they have no idea if the client is really following recommendations or not.

This creates a gap between the client, the family and the treatment team—where important information can fall through the cracks and ultimately become one of the leading contributors to poor treatment outcomes.

Bridging the gap

The first objective of the RehabWorks Alignment Model is to simply teach families everything the clients are learning in treatment about addiction and recovery. This levels the conversation by making sure everybody's on the same page with regard to treatment planning. And that's the shortest path to improved treatment outcomes.

The road to successful rehab

For the family who has been struggling with the turmoil of dealing with a loved one's substance use problem, the obvious goal is—not just "rehab"—but SUCCESSFUL rehab. A lot of people go to rehab, but how do we make sure that rehab's going to be successful?

RehabWorks was created to guide families on this journey and give your loved one the best chance possible for treatment success.

"A real game changer for improving treatment outcomes through effective family support"

RehabWorks is like putting you right in the classroom along with your loved one.

How prepared are you?

A message from Jim Savage, LCDC

I've worked in the addiction field for a long time—like over 30 years. But I've actually been around the addiction field longer than I've been a professional in it. You see, I was one of those “early bloomers,” and my first introduction to the addiction field was when my parents put me in drug rehab when I was 17. That was the first time I learned about the disease of addiction. But I wasn't ready to hear the message, and it took me five more years to find out that what they were saying was true: It doesn't go away, it gets worse over time, and so on

So I ended up checking myself into rehab, and that began my own personal journey of recovery.

Fast forward 32 years and I'm a seasoned addiction professional who has helped thousands of young people recover from Substance Use Disorder. I've even written my own book about how to treat addiction! And despite having enjoyed a reputation for being somewhat of a maverick in the addiction field due to my creative approach using music, creative drama, and storytelling, one of the things I’m most passionate about is improving treatment outcomes and helping families avoid the heartache of a failed treatment experience. And that's why I created this course.

I ran my own outpatient treatment program for over ten years, one of the biggest things I learned from that experience was how much of an impact the family can have with regard to treatment success. And I became so committed to this idea that I actually left that business and turned my attention to working specifically with families. I developed a program for families to go through WHILE their loved one was in treatment, which gave me the unique perspective of seeing what it’s like from the family’s perspective while they’re going through the treatment process.

The next step of my journey was creating RehabWorks. You could say it’s a culmination of my ENTIRE history of being around the addiction treatment industry: From knowing personally the struggle of overcoming an addiction, to running a treatment program and seeing what works and what doesn’t work in treatment, to finally learning from families the specific struggles and challenges they face in supporting a loved one battling a substance use disorder.

Nothing is more gratifying for me than being able to help families move towards the goal of successful recovery with their loved one. The RehabWorks platform has become an amazing way to be able to share my work with more families who can benefit from this. It's my sincere hope that you might be able to use this to turn addressing a loved one's substance issue into the best thing could happen for your family.

From course users…

"I wish we would have had this our first time in rehab!"

"We've learned SO much through this course that we never learned the first time our daughter was in rehab. The first time she got out she convinced us that she was "fine" and she didn't need more outpatient care, even though that's what the counselors were recommending. Things fell apart quickly and we ended up right back in rehab. That's when we found RehabWorks and this time we're handling treatment completely differently. So grateful!"

Bill and Karen G.

Parents of a 21-year-old female

“Gave us the strength and  confidence to give our daughter help she needed”

“When we discovered our daughter needed to go to drug treatment we were devastated. There was so much we didn't understand, and we were terrified of having to set the kind of boundaries we knew we needed to put in place to address her problem. Her counselor told us about RehabWorks and we got started right away. This program changed everything for us, and most importantly, it gave us the strength and confidence to give our daughter the help she needed."

Linda S.

Mother of a 15-year-old female

“Not just for parents”

"At first I was a little concerned that this course was just for parents of kids in treatment and that it wouldn't apply for me, since my husband was one in rehab. But our counselor told me it's valuable for any family members, and he was absolutely right! This course helped me understand so much about what he was going through in treatment, and what I could be doing not only for him—but for myself as well."

Ana S.

Wife of a 47-year-old male

“Invaluable!”

"I can't imagine how our son's rehab would have gone without this course. And that's not to say anything bad about the program he was at. They were great. But it's just so hard to take in all the information you get bombarded with during the short time you're there. I loved having this program to work on at home, and be able to watch the videos over and over. Every time I watched them I got something new. I've got to  say, having a child in rehab can be overwhelming, and RehabWorks has been an invaluable resource for us!"

Amy W.

Mother of a 21-year-old male

“Life-changing for all involved”

"My husband and I had many fretful years trying to “do the right thing” for our child with drugs and alcohol struggles. But we never even knew what “the right thing” should look like! The information we got from this course was extremely eye-opening and helped us understand what all is involved in her treatment and recovery. The program guided us through her treatment and the results were life-changing for all involved."

Ellen G

Mother of a 35-year-old female

“I just love this course!”

"I just love this course! The videos are the best—beautiful graphics, fun and packed full of valuable information, but never feels like a boring lecture. And I love the fact that I can work on this around my other children's schedules!"

Rhonda L.

Mother of an 18-year-old male

“Solved the exact problem we've been arguing about since the day we checked him into rehab”

“We weren't introduced to RehabWorks til after our son had returned home from 4 months at a residential drug rehab. I wish we had found it sooner. He agreed he needed to quit using his drug of choice (opiates) but he never really believed he needed to quit using marijuana. This course solved the exact problem that we'd been arguing about since the day we checked him into rehab: He never  really believed he needed to stop smoking pot, but we didn't know how to how to deal with that. This course cleared it all up in one sitting, and we were able to finally begin making some progress towards his recovery.”

Don R

Father of a 17-year-old male

The value of this course

How do you really put a price tag on the value of successful treatment?

My sole intention for offering this course is to help families avoid a failed treatment episode for a loved one and the tragic consequences that can occur as result of this. The unfortunate reality is that I see that happen way too often. While there’s no way to attach a specific value to this, I will say that it pains me to see the vast amount of money that is often spent on treatment (tens—if not hundreds of thousand of dollars!), only to have everything blow up shortly after discharge. And I don’t want that to happen for you.

I want to make this as easily accessible to you as possible. That's why I put this offer together and am making this entire package available for what basically amounts to the cost of a few sessions with a therapist. I look forward to seeing you on the inside and helping you on the road to successful recovery for your loved one!
